Korea Football Association has decided to part ways with men’s national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

In a press conference held at the KFA House in Seoul on Friday, KFA President Chung Mong-gyu stated: “The KFA’s board of directors have listened to the report following the National Team Reinforcement Committee meeting yesterday, and decided to replace the national team coach after thoroughly considering the circumstances.”

Earlier on Thursday, the National Team Reinforcement Committee had suggested that Klinsmann step down following his failure to meet the standards in terms of match operations, squad management and working attitudes, before the board of directors informed the coach of the decision the following day.

“We will immediately commence the process of appointing a new coach to prepare for the second round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. And before that a new chairperson will be appointed to lead the revamped National Team Reinforcement Committee,” the President said.

“We will also look into various measures to prevent such problems within the group from happening again, by reforming the procedure of assembling the coaching staff as well as the system of managing the players in the future.”

Appointed as the coach of Korea Republic in March last year, Klinsmann has recorded eight wins, six draws and three defeats – including the AFC Asian Cup semi-final defeat by Jordan – in 17 official matches since making his debut in a friendly against Colombia.
