U-22 Korea National Team had a tie in a match against Timor-Leste.
U-22 Korea National Team led by a temporary coach Jung Jungyong recorded 0-0 in a match against Timor-Leste in the AFC U-23 Championship Qualifier which was held at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on July 21.
Korea used 4-2-3-1 formation. Cho Youngwook (Korea University) stood for one top and Kang Jihun (Yongin University), Lee Sangheon (Ulsan), Park Seongbu (Soongsil University) are positioned in the 2nd line. The midfielders are Kim Hyeseong (Hongik University) and Lee Seongmo (Pohang) while Yoon Jonggyu (Gyeongnam), Lee Sangmin (Soongsil University), Jeong Taewook (Ajou University) and Park Changjun (Ajou University) stood for the back four offense line.
Korea played one sided offense from the beginning but hardly gained goal due to firm defense of Timor-Leste. Players such as Kang Jihun and Cho Youngwook made shooting continuously but the ball bounced back or blocked by the goal keeper of the opponent team. After the 30', Timor-Leste caught flow of Korea team's pass and played a smart game. In the 33', Park Changjun was substituted by Park Jaewoo due to wounds while competing with the opponent team. The flow did not change much. Korea was not able to get a scoring opportunity due to strong defense of East Timor which disturbed Korea's competency at the front line. The first half ended with a tie without any score.
With the beginning of the second half, coach Jung Jungyong substituted Kim Hyesung with Hwang Inbeom to gave a change. However, the scoring opportunity was hardly gained at the beginning of the second half. It was Korea which dominated the game but the offense was collapsed at the front line. Timor-Leste fought against Korea with strong defense but the counter attack was not strong. In the 71', Cho Youngwook of Korea made a key shooting from the deep inside of the penalty box but it went over the goal. The offense continued but it was hard to gain a goal.
In the 77', mid-distance shooting by Timor-Leste at the counter attach condition was blocked by Song Bumkeun, the goalkeeper and went beyond the goal. In the 88', the ball missed by the mistake of the opponent goalkeeper during the ball control was connected by shooting of Hwang Inbeom of Korea from the right side of the goal area but it missed the goal. There was not goal gained even in the four minutes of over time. The game ended in a tie 0-0.
Korea will have a 3rd round against Vietnam, the home team, in the same place on July 23.
