Suwon Samsung defeated Jeju United and qualified for the FA Cup quarterfinal as a last member.
Suwon won a victory over Jeju 2-0 in the round of 16 in the '2017 KEB Hana Bank FA Cup' which was held at Jeju World Cup Stadium on June 6th. All other seven matches of the round of 16 were held on May 17th. However, the match between Suwon and Jeju was postponed due to the schedule of the AFC Champions League. Suwon defeated Jeju, which is also a member of the K League Classic, and got a last ticket to the quarterfinal.
Suwon and Jeju played a competitive match on a wet field. Both teams gave and took away threatening goal chances from the first half but the goal was not easily gained. The two team, which ended up the first half without scores, had even more fierce competition in the second half. There was also conflicts between the players.
The first goal was gained by Suwon in the 62'. Johnathan received Santos' pass and made a successful goal by right foot shooting from the right side of the penalty area. Jeju started counterattack but Suwon made the gap even wider with an additional goal of Santos in the 82.
Jeju continued attack while substituting players until the last minute but there was no gain. It was another pain for Jeju followed by a lose against Urawa Red during the round of 16 in the AFC Champions' League. Jeju kept lost to Suwon in the four simultaneous games including K League Classic last year.
On the other hand, Suwon celebrated for being qualified for the quarterfinal. Suwon's next counterpart is Gwangju FC which was qualified for the quarterfinal after defeating Asan Mugunghwa Football Club 3-0 on May 17.
