[FA Cup Round of 16] Seongnam and Busan show a big smile

There was no more uprising except for Seongnam FC and Busan IPark of the K League Challenge.

Seven matches out of eight matches in the Round of 16 for 2017 KEB Hana Bank FA Cup was held simultaneously on May 17. In the afternoon, there was a battle between the National League Mokpo City and Pocheon City Football of K3 League and Mokpo City defeated Pocheon 1-0. Mokpo City well secured Kim Younguk's winning goal in the 67‘ and finally qualified for the quarterfinal of the FA Cup for the first time since its foundation.

The evening matches were showdown between K League Classic and K League Challenge. There were uprisings of only two matches out of six matches. The spotlights were in Seongnam FC and Busan IPark. Seongnam confronted Gangwon which forced down Seongnam in the playoff last year. Seongnam was fueled by the winning goal of Or?uli?, the defender in the 67', gave Gangwan the slip 1-0 and brought back the ashes. When the game finished, players in Seongnam cheered up as if they won a championship.

K League classic teams all smiled in the rest of four matches. Ulsan Hyundai, which is in an upturning trend recently, defeated the leading of Gyeongnam FC of the K League Challenge 2-1. Ulsan was advancing with a leading goal by Lee Jongho in the 63' but gave an equalizer goal to Markao in the 80'. However, Ulsan was finally able to join the quarterfinal by a dramatic winning goal by Park Yongwoo in the over time. On the contrary, Gyeongnam which never lost in the 14 matches in this season including FA Cup had to close its "no defeat parade" in the 15th match.

Jeonnam Dragons won a victory against Daejeon Citizen 2-1. Jeonnam was fueled by duo foreign players' goal, specifically a leading goal by Feczesin and a winning goal of Jugovi?, and was able to give Daejeon the slip which retrieved a goal by Jang Junyoung. Jeonnam was listed at the lower level of K League but now is able to keep have a hope to get a qualification for the AFC Champions' League. The winning team of FA Cup will directly play in the AFC Champions' League next year.

Gwangju FC easily defeated Asan Mugunghwa Football Club 3-0. The Captain Cho Jooyoung played in full blast while having two goals and Kim Siwoo made an additional goal. Sangju FC won a victory over Bucheon FC1995 2-0 with simultaneous goals by Cho Youngcheol and Park Suchang.
A battle between FC Seoul and Busan IPark was not concluded in the 90 minutes regular time. Seoul rigorously attacked Busan which did not have the key player, Lee Jeonghyup due to wounds in ankle. However Seoul was not successful to gain a goal until the end of the second half. The two team had drawn even in the overtime and had a penalty shoot-out. Busan finally defeated Seoul 8-7 in the penalty shoot-out and qualified for the quarterfinal in the last minute. Koo Sangmin, the goal keeper of Busan became the best player of the winning by not only defending in the penalty shoot-out but also defending threatening shooting during the play.

Meanwhile, FA Cup round of 16 between Jeju United and Suwon Samsung was postponed to June 6 as Jeju is being qualified for the round of 16 in the AFC Champions' League. The quarterfinal of the FA Cup will be held in August 9.
