It was the first victory without losing a goal at an official game of Shin Taeyong's team prior to the opening of 'FIFA U-20 World Cup Korea 2017' on May 9 and 15,123 audiences who filled the stadium shouted for joy.

Uruguay is the strongest latin team which passed the preliminary league of Latin America for the U-20 World Cup with the first ranking. However, as it was the game only one day after their land in Korea on May 10, their condition was not super. Korea actively played and showed offense compared to Uruguay.

Cho Youngwook (Korea University), who played as a striker showed strong breakthrough. In 9', he took away a ball from Uruguay's position while giving them stress, broke through into the penalty area and connected to shooting. However, the ball barely passed the cross bar.

There was a risky moment. Joaquin Ardaiz took a ball from Korea's position and connected it to cross by left dribble breakthrough from the penalty area in the 12'. It was the crucial moment for Uruguay to get a goal but the ball did not reach Diego de la Cruz who was running towards the goal. Uruguay also had an header of Agustin Rogel at corner kick in the 23'. However, the bounced ball passed over the cross bar.

There was series of moments which lacked final pass. However, Korea continued to aim for a goal and finally got a first goal in the 39'. Cho Youngwook broke the defence line and made a shooting in front of the goal but the ball bounced back after hitting the goal keeper. Then Lee Seongwoo from side pushed the ball with diving header.

After finishing the first half 1-0, Coach Shin changed three players. Yoon Jonggyu, Han Chanhee and Lee Sangheon were out while Woo Chanyang (Pohang Steelers), Lee Jinhyun (Sungkyunkwan University) and Lim Minhyeok (FC Seoul) replaced them. Korea had another opportunity in the 52' when Cho Youngwook gained a free kick near the left side of the arc but Paik Seungho's free kick hit the offence wall and pass over the goal.

Uruguay, with condition adjustment, put power in the offense compared to the first half. Uruguay's offense force made an offense opportunity while showing fast speed and individual's skill. In 62', Nicolas Schiappacasse's shooting hit the net in the side which was a risk for Korea but the defense forces including goalkeeper Song Bumkeun and captain Lee Sangmin defended well. Song Bumkeun also put up a good defense against Rogel's header towards the right corner of the goal in 70'.

In 77', Coach Shin gave a change to the tired defense force. Kim Seungwoo and Jeong Taewook were out while Lee Seungmo (Pohang Steelers) and Lee Jungmoon (Yonsei University) joined. In 84', Lee Seungwoo and Cho Youngwook were out, substituted by Kang Jihun (Yongin University) and Ha Seungun (Yonsei University) in order to add power. Ha Seungun, as soon as he was deployed, made a corner kick with hot breakthrough from right. Kang Jihun also passed a strong shooting from left of penalty area one minute later but it was blocked by the goalkeeper.

Substituted two offenders sucessfully made a joint wonder goal during over time. Ha Seungun made a left foot cross to a long pass from back side and Kang Jihun took it over with a surprising overhead kick and finally made a goal. Cheongju stadium was full of excitement in this thrilled moment and the ending whistle was blown right after.
