Korea National Football Team led by Coach Uli Stielike announced a list of 24 national team players prior to the World Cup Qualifying matches against China and Syria in March. Son Heungmin and Ki Sungyueng have joined as usual but K leaguers also have joined.

On March 13, Coach Stielike announced 24 players who will play in the 6th and 7th Qualifying matches for the 2018 Russia World Cup in KEB Hana Bank Headquarter in Uljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul. The Qualifying matches will be held with China on the 23rd and with Syria on the 28th of March.

Generally, the national team calls 23 players but there are 24 players this time. "We have to watch the recovering process of Ki Sungyueng and Kwok Taehwi as they are wounded" said Coach Stielike. He also kept in mind of Son Heungmin who cannot play on the ground in a match against China due to accumulation of warnings.

Son Heungmin and Ki Sungyueng who are playing in the England Premiere Leagues also aiming for a turn around of the national team. Son Heungmin recently played as a replacement member in the team and had difficulties in condition adjustment. However, he showed off his strength while recording a hat trick in the quarterfinal of the England FA Cup against Millwall on March 13. Son will be absent from a match against China but will play in a match with Syria.

Ki Sungyueng, who is leading the national team, has not played in his team recently due to wounds. He has recovered from the wounds and returned to the team but has not had an opportunity to play yet. Once he pulls up sense of play in the national team and make a good record, he will gain confidence once more.

Heo Yongjun is an outstanding player among K leaguers. Heo put his name in the list of A National Team for the first time in his career. "I continuously paid an attention to Heo since last season. I went to Gwangyang even yesterday and watched him playing. I was impressed about his play while he has the ball. It was not easy to decide but I considered him joining the team due to wound of Lee Jaesung," explained Coach Stielike about the reason to Heo.

The World Cup Qualifying matches against China and Syria are vital battles that decide whether to go to final or not. South Korea recorded 10 points (3 wins, 1 tie, 1 loss) in Group A and is ranked 2nd right behind Iran (11 points, 3 wins and 2 tie).
