On January 11, K3 League representatives' meeting announced specific management plans for K3 League Advanced and K3 League Basic. K 3 League introduced a promotion/relegation play-off last year to the base of Korean style division system. K 3 clubs were divided into advanced (upper league) and basic (lower league). Teams between 1st to 11th and the play-off winner of 12th and 15th were assigned to K3 Advanced while the playoff loser and team from16th to 20th were assigned to K3 Basic.

K3 League Advanced will play 22 rounds in total which would mean 132 games in a home and away format. 1st team will directly proceed to the championship and teams from 2nd to 5th will go through the championship playoff. The championship will be influenced by an away goal rule. The 1st round starts on February 25.

K3 Basic consists of 9 teams. Each team will play 18 rounds and there will be 72 games in total. The league has a principle to hold a game on Saturday but the opening match and the final match are scheduled to be held on Sunday. The 1st round of K3 Basic starts February 26.

The key is a system of promotion and relegation. 11th and 12th teams of K3 Advanced will be relegated to K3 Basic. 1st team of K3 Basic will directly join 2018 K3 Advanced and teams from 2nd to 5th will go thorough play-off matches. The final winner of the play-off will obtain a ticket of K3 Advanced.

In addition, the official emblem was disclosed to the public. The emblem of K3 Advanced contains dark pink while K3 Basic has a blue color. The two emblems have the same format but each emblem expresses a characteristic of the league by colors.

U-21 players rule will be required. All the team must include a U-21 player in the lineup. It will be a recommendation this year but it will be mandatory for all K3 clubs in 2018.

20 representatives of K3 Advanced and Basic clubs attended the meeting. KFA vice-president Kim Hogon greeted them saying “K3 League will play a vital role in the future of Korean football. I would like to say thank you to all the K3 clubs. They worked hard to run their clubs in difficult situations. We need to work together for a better future.”
