Ki Sungyueng and Kim Jungmi were awarded 2016 Player of the Year

On December 20, KFA held 2016 KFA Award at Baekbeom Museum and Library in Seoul.
A male player of the year was selected by technical committee members and senior football journalists of media agencies. A female player of the year was decided by the votes of technical committee members.
Ki Sungyueng played 9 international matches for Korean national team this year as a captain. Ki who played a pivotal role in the attack and defense beat Son Heungmin by a narrow margin in the vote. The Swansea player has become the player of the year for the third time after 2011 and 2012. The 27 year is the all time winner in the male division. The big winner in both male and female division is Ji Soyeon (2010, 2011, 2013, 2014).
Kim Jungmi was awarded the female player of the year. Kim played for the national team for 104 times and helped Incheon Hyundai Steel claim fourth title in a row. It was the first time for her to win this award in her career.
Korea University’s Seo Dongwon won the coach of the year award. Seo led Korea University to the champion of 2016 U League. Coach Cho Mihee of Ganggyeong Girls’ Middle School won the female coach of the year after claiming 3 titles in the national wide competitions.
Cho Youngwook won the young players of the year. Cho showed a steady performance for U-19 national team despite he was only 17 years old. Park Yeun won the female young player of the year after working hard for U-20 national team.
Kim Byungji, Kim Namil and Park Heeyoung named the special contribution award. These players retired from football after devoting themselves for the national team for a long time.
Kim Jonghyeok, Yoon Gwangryeol, Park Jiyoung and Kim Gyeongmin won the referee of the year.
Meanwhile, the KFA main sponsor KT offered a By Y Pad to the members of KFA and coaching staffs of the national team wishing the best luck in the future.
