Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors became the champion of Asian club football for the second time after defeating Al Ain FC.
On November 27, Jeonbuk drew against Al Ain 1-1 in the second leg of the AFC Champions League final at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain. However, Jeonbuk was able to lift the AFC trophy as they defeated Al Ain 2-1 in the first leg at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
Jeonbuk's game plan faced a trouble after 2 minutes. Jeonbuk midfielder Lopes was injured while he was dribbling and the Brazilian had to be replaced by Han Kyowon.
Al Ain played with an aggressive attitude to dominate the game. In the 11', Omar headed a ball receiving Danilo Asprilla's cross but Jeonbuk goalkeeper Kwoun Suntae saved it. Al Ain's striker Douglas fired a few shots in the 24' and 28' but failed to find the inside the net.
In the 30', Jeonbuk took the lead. Han Kyowon fired a shot after receiving a ball from Lee Jaesung's corner kick. Han had to step into the pitch unequipped but he proved himself scoring a precious goal for team.
Jeonbuk couldn't keep the lead long. In the 34', Al Ain leveled the score with Lee Myoungjoo's goal. Lee fired a right footer receiving Caio Lucas Fernandes' cross. There was no chance for Kwoun.
In the 41', Al Ain had a chance to lead the game. Asprilla was fell down by Kim Hyungil's challenge and the referee pointed the spot. However, Al Ain striker Douglas's shot went over the crossbar.
In the second half, Al Ain put their everything to scored a goal. Jeonbuk were in more trouble as the referee made favorable decisions to the home team.
But Jeonbuk's goalkeeper Kwoun made a difference with a number of saves. Jeonbuk did not concede a goal until the stoppage time and claimed the victory. Jeonbuk won the AFC Champion title and also secured their ticket to the FIFA Club World Cup.
